Many people today feel worn down, uncertain, and searching for hope. We live in a world marked by brokenness, loss, and unanswered questions. The Bible teaches that true and lasting hope is not found in circumstances, self-improvement, or optimism, but in a person. That hope is found in Jesus Christ.
The gospel is the good news of what God has done to save sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It tells the true story of the world, our problem, God’s solution, and our future hope (1 Cor. 15:3–4).
Creation
God created the world good and created humanity in His image to know Him, reflect Him, and rule under Him. We were made for relationship with God, to live under His loving authority, and to enjoy His presence. God is holy, righteous, and good, and everything He made reflected His character and purposes (Gen. 1:26–31; Ps. 24:1).
Fall
Humanity rebelled against God, choosing autonomy over obedience. Through Adam’s sin, corruption and death entered the world, and all people are now sinners by nature and by choice. We are separated from God, spiritually dead, unable to restore ourselves, and under His just judgment (Gen. 3:1–24; Rom. 5:12). Sin affects every part of who we are. We do not merely need improvement or guidance. We need to be rescued from sin, death, and judgment (Rom. 3:23; Eph. 2:1–3).
Redemption
Out of love and mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save sinners. Jesus lived the sinless life we failed to live and died on the cross as a substitute for sinners, bearing God’s wrath in our place. He rose bodily from the dead, proving that the payment for sin was complete and that death has been defeated (Rom. 5:8; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 15:3–4).
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We are not saved by works, religious effort, or moral reform, but by trusting in Jesus Christ and His finished work. All who repent and believe are forgiven, justified, adopted into God’s family, and given new life (Eph. 2:8–9; Rom. 10:9–10).
Restoration
God’s saving work does not end with forgiveness. Through Christ, God is restoring sinners now and will one day restore all creation. Those who belong to Jesus are being transformed in this life and will one day share in the resurrection life of Christ. When Jesus returns, He will judge the living and the dead and establish His righteous kingdom forever (Phil. 1:6; Acts 17:31).
For believers, the future is resurrection, eternal life, and unbroken fellowship with God. For those who reject Christ, Scripture warns of eternal judgment in hell (Rev. 21:1–5; Rom. 6:23).
What God Requires
God commands all people everywhere to repent and believe the gospel. To repent is to agree with what God has said about sin and to turn from living for ourselves. To believe is to trust fully in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. This is not mere intellectual agreement, but wholehearted reliance on Christ as Lord and Savior (Mark 1:15; John 5:24).
